There was always risks in this consensual game between adults, both Rachel and Cosima knew this. As long as Rachel watched and regarded Cosima's reactions while whipping her. Also, that Cosima uses her negotiated safeword sensibly and when appropriate.
Rachel would have preferred the other woman gagged and using hand signals instead of a safe word, but judging from the way Cosima twitched and declined, that was crossing a personal boundary for her.
But, at least Rachel would be able to bind her hands together with rope (which she'd used on previous partners and monitors).
It was her favorite part.
