A/N: My first crossover fic of these fandoms :) Not cutting 'cos it's general. Set about three eps into S2 of Atlantis, and halfway through S2 of Galactica.
Across that conference table, they were as fierce as two lionesses dead-locked over a cub. Roslin had her goal in clear view - reaching the promised land, Earth. Dr Weir wasn't about to let just any stranger through the Atlantis gate. Since the unnanounced arrival of this leader's fleet, she'd gone from bewildered to cautious.
In Roslin, she sensed resolve and weariness - but what else? There seemed no deceit in the woman's firm stare. The skin was pale and she was not young. But the way her thin mouth curved her smile into her eyes told of a humour Dr Weir appreciated.
"We're both diplomats, Laura. I just want a little time with your people before we come to any decision," Weir softened her shoulders and tilted her head, allowing her counterpart to see her relax.
Roslin leant forward. Dr Weir found herself noticing the fall of her neat hair and the way her suit sat - crisp and clean and bland. Like herself, really - adorned only by her desire to lead her people. Her repose was resonantly Grecian, like an alabaster bust of Athena, with a proud air of subdued might and justice.
"You will have time, Elizabeth - but we will have Earth."
And again, that smile - that smile that caught her eyes and sized Weir up - that smile said 'I'll have my way, and you'll want to give it to me.'
