I didn't watch the entire thing, but did anyone watch the new show with Freddy Prince Jr.? It was really disturbing. The first stereotyped women where the two rich bimbos that just wanted money and that the two main characters were trying to hook up with. Then when they ditch the guys the men decided to go for poor girls, but not "sad poor". Of course there was the stereotypical white trash girl that ended up stealing everything and again cared nothing about anything except money. The whole thing was really disturbing as far as gender and class issues. It really was posed as men are out for sex and women are out for money and we should laugh at the hilarity that will ensue as women try to get money and men try to get laid. It also posed it as Freddy had the American dream that whole garbage about if you just buckle down you can get out of the neighborhood, too. In addition to that there was a line in the first five minutes of the show where the two "bimbos" are telling Freddy and his friend they are leaving and the friend basically says that he paid for everything and is entitled. I feel like they are trying to portray it is as progressive just because they cast minorities and it is like oh, ha ha look at the un-PC friend, but it has serious implications along gender and class and race. Any thoughts?
