Sometimes, i get tired of working with men. I'm not going to sugarcoat this.
I've worked about 3 jobs in my lifetime (i'm 19 years old) and with each job comes an extra burden of having to either "flirt" with men, be stared at by men, or be made fun of by men much like the way a kindergartener makes fun of his first crush.
Also, being taken seriously is hard, sometimes, when all some men like to do, when talking to women, is joke. I know everyone's met guys like this. They're a damned dime a dozen. If you bring up anything- and i mean anything- they'll dominate the conversation with stupid jokes. Shut UP! already, and listen. These same men will turn around and talk to another guy like you wish they would talk to you. It's almost impossible to be professional with them.
I'm not being entirely coherent, but here are some of the things that have been said/done to me on the job:
Manager wrapped his arms around me from behind and said "it's ok, ma" when i got heated at a customer.
My current supervisor stares at me all the fucking time. I go to wash prints and dry them and he just follows me with his eyes. I want to kick his ass.
My manager used to leer at me as well.
I can't count the number of times i've been in a conversation where anything i say is interrupted by some stupid-ass joke.
Much much more.
I hate it.
It starts to wear on me.
How many of you have experienced workplace problems similar (or perhaps not so) to this? The higher up you get on the job ladder may have an effect on how men treat you. Professional women, is this true? Or do you still face bullshit?
