Okay. So now Maddie is the main character. She and the older maid, Lupita, share a grand old laugh at Rachel's expense. It's clear that they are old friends. Rachel rings the bell. Prince starts barking like mad. Maddie suddenly sharpens and looks toward Rachel. (Requiem) Very pavlovian, obviously fears Rachel.
Hall of horrors (Rachel's family portraits, only constant is Prince while everyone else is clearly temporary having been eaten by zombies)
In the bathroom, Rachel is doing a mask and sitting lazily in a bubble bath. Prince awaits his food anxiously as Maddie empties some raw bloody meat (with gloves) into his crystal dish. Rachel is being disdainful as fuck, asking why she would need to bother with gloves when they live in this clean, protected palace.
Maddie is scrubbing the tub clean when she hears a BANG and Prince's incessant barking. She goes out to the veranda to discover that Rachel has shot Lupita and a zombie dead. The zombie had climbed up somehow, having smelled human meat. Lupita was drying laundry. Blood splatters on the cloth as they flutter in the wind.
How could you?? I meant to shoot the zombie. Whatever we can get a new one. A new what, a new life? A NEW HUMAN BEING? God stop freaking out, dude, you're making me stress. And you know how much I hate stress zits! Maddie tears up, but hardens. She does not sob. She looks resolved. God are you okay?
What is the mind game that Maddie plays with Rachel then? Rachel has to be full of fear every time the bell rings. My guess is that she convinces Rachel she needs it to fully play her part as maid cum assistant while they 'look' for a new maid. They meaning Maddie. 'look' meaning do everything she can to get zombies inside the house.
