I have been slacking recently... my last entry was three weeks ago... things have been very strange and busy and cool and ill recently... the Electric Picnic was awesome... Massive Attack rocked... Pet Shop Boys were brilliant... Deus were fab... Broken Social Scene, Pendulum, Groove Armada... it was more of a bands weekend than some Glastonburys... and more of an abusing myself weekend, however... first sleep of the festival was two hours at 2.30 on Saturday afternoon... not a great start energy wise... any energy I was likely to have after that came artificially, and I got a wracking, horrible cough on the last night... still haven't quite shaken it. So, a relaxing, easy weekend the following one?
Of course not...
tokensmile's birthday necessitated partying, and had a very odd Angel which I essentially sleepwalked through. This was made up for, however, by the excellent Afters at the Monkeys, where an odd apparently legal capsule supplied by
denari set off a very strange rollercoaster. Inbetween parties and snatching sleep I finished my fifth assignment for my course... probably the most interesting... all about the construction of big dams in developing countries... stuff to get my teeth into, but the word count was ridiculous - of what I wrote originally I had to ditch a quarter and relegate another quarter into the footnotes... 1200 words to dissect the arguments against dam contruction in developing countries? Pf.
So now I'm in Ireland, after two fairly easy days' work... only one person turned up to my course today, so it became a coaching session and ended at lunch... I now have an interview to look foward to on Monday, which will if successful (and it sounds more like an approval thing - ie is he a non-muppet - than a loads of people competing for one role thing) lead to three months work at daily rates, hurrah! Maybe I can stop being poor... would be able to get a new laptop and book Tanzania for next year... hmmm, better stop counting my chickens, but it is about time... Missing the lovely
tokensmile as I haven't seen her since last weekend and won't see her 'til next, she is off to France... amazing how much a part of your life somebody becomes...
