LJ at it again

Here we go again. *sighs*

Not going to go into any specific details of this. I like the way they put it up, it's clearer to read and understand but there are still certain things they need to be clearer about and the whole paranoia about depicting underage characters as sexual is now as it has always been, very irritating to me. The day someone can prove to me that teenagers have no sexual feelings or experience or are even aware of having a dick/vagina until the morning of their 18th birthday will be the day I say "You win!" and delete all my underage stories. Until then, wake up and smell reality or whatever. Showing, in writing or art, teenagers being teenagers is not pedophilia or child pornography. It doesn't mean we're telling people to go out and rape 8 year olds. Jeez!

However...

I've been resisting flagging* my journal as Adult, simply because 1) It's not my job to monitor other people's kids, I have enough with my own and 2) It doesn't matter anyway because no matter how young they are they can still get to the content with a few clicks, unless I lock my fic which I have NEVER DONE and WILL NEVER DO UNLESS ORDERED TO DO SO. Just so we're clear.

But now they're making it look more and more as if, even if it's not actually mandatory, you might get your wrist slapped if you don't. Which, you know, ok. I can take a little wristslapping but seriously, what bullshit.

[...] certain types of content should not be accessible to minors. This policy assists in preventing minors from viewing adult content without affecting adults..

Erm... No, it doesn't. Flagging my journal does nothing to make it unaccessible. They're asked if they're old enough to read. If they want to read they will click yes. They could be five years old and still click yes. The computer does not scan for age, it has no idea who sits by the monitor. Flagging my LJ as Adult is not going to save any children's innocence. *rolls eyes* It might cover my ass to some extent but really, I don't think I should have to. I'm not their mother!

I don't know. I should probably cave in. I just really, really don't want to. I'm kinda stubborn like that.

*They themselves use the word 'flag' about this which I think is stupid and confusing since that is the same word they use for when you 'flag' someone else's journal as breaking any of their policies. There should be a clear distinction between the two.
