The girl: That Doctor Who guy, why does he always have girls with him?
Me: So he won't be lonely, I guess.
The girl: *huffs* He sure seems to need a lot of girls.
Me: Well, he is almost a thousand years old.
The girl: Oh. But the world has a lot of boys, too!
Me: *grins* That's true. He did travel with a guy once, I think...

I was thinking of Jack Harkness, but he didn't really travel alone with the Doctor, right? So I wondered, does that mean he's not a "real" companion? I Wiki'd Doctor Who and turns out he did have many male companions, but I'm too lazy to read the whole thing to find out if he ever travelled alone with any of them. Seems they count Mickey and Rose's mother and pretty much everyone that's ever been aboard the TARDIS as a companion. Not really how I see it. Oh well. I still think we should get a season with the Doctor having exciting adventures with our boy Jack. *winks*
