A good man is hard to find was the short story that I liked the most. It kept my attention from the beginning to the end. I read it multiply times for fun. The first time I read it I was amazed at how hateful the grand mother was. She was the oldest and you could tell she was racist and always had something negative to say. For example she made a joke to her grandkids about an African American that thought the initials on the watermelon reading E.A.T. meant eat. This was talking about how uneducated blacks were. At the start of the story the family was taking a trip to Florida as the grandmother explains her reasons for wanting to go to Mississippi. She tells them that a killer is on the loose and they shouldn’t go. Ignoring her they go any way. They get there and meet friends along the way. Some how the cat got out and caused the dad to wreck. Ending up the woods was the downfall to this story. My heart rate was pounding as I was reading because you didn’t know what was going tot happen next. The family is killed one by one. To my surprise the grandmother dies last and has the most painful death. One thing I asked myself was if the cat didn’t get out would they be alive or was this destiny in full effect. Although the likely hood of them running into the killer was slim it happened to them.. So more often time than not you ask yourself why
