I've taken the GRE. It was horrible. The two essays were first and I was confronted with the fact that there is no substitute for the word technology. I don't think I've ever repeated the same word 25 times in an essay that is probably less that one page. Oh well. Apparently, grad schools don't even look at the essay scores. I feel your pain. In two weeks I take the GRE Subject Test in Biochemistry, Molecular, and Cellular Biology. I took it last year after reading about a third of a textbook, but a better score will help my chances of getting into one of the grad programs I will be applying for in a couple of months.

I have taken the general GRE twice, though I had more problems with the verbal than the math. In fact, I took it the second time to improve my verbal score.

I'm glad it went well. Or at least well enough to make it a one time deal :).

I took the Bio GRE as the written final for Whitman's BA in Biology. It was a bitch. I think that the most intimidating part of the process was the lady telling us we couldn't take a bathroom break. Jesus. I recall ranking a mid-60s on the test itself, but that was just studying for a few hours before the test. God, I hope I never have to take it again. Though I suppose I'll have to take the General test if I plan on more schools, which I do. Thank god round one is over, though, eh?

Now, the subject GREs I understand. I never actually took the Psychology GRE, but Anna did and said it was incredibly hard. It seems like the subject GREs are actually relevant to a grad school application, but the general GRE doesn't really mean anything. Random knowledge that you won't need for your specialty unless you are doing something in English or basic math.
