The Cobalt Room - A good place to find sirens, too, no doubt.

I thought about including the following in my highlights/rambly, but I think it deserves its own post, as it's kind of a topic of conversation unto itself.

Before we start our conversation, it might behoove us to review our points of reference. They can be found here (our most recent entry into the topic of discussion) and here. Also, a brief reference to Dean/Lisa here.

I recently engaged in a brief conversation wherein I stated that Dean likes it slow and sweet and tender, and Sam is the aggressive one between the sheets. The person I was conversing with was wanting to see a more aggressive Dean, suggesting that we have not yet see him during one of his one-night stands, as she was of the opinion that Dean can be rough if he wants to be.

And after watching this most recent scene? "Rough" isn't Dean's MO.

Lydia is the aggressor throughout the entire flirtation and sex scene. She's the one pulling information out of Dean, drawing him out, lulling him into a sense of no commitment. He's all for it, don't get me wrong, but she's the one setting the pace and giving the conversation it's tone. Usually, the flirting we see Dean engage in, it's an equal back and forth, like with Maya (Mia?) the barkeep back in "Defending Your Life." Or Jamie (Jamie! \o/) in "Monster Movie." Lydia is pursuing Dean, Lydia suggests they take it elsewhere.

Cut to the sex scene. In heavy liplock, Dean gets pulled into Lydia's house. She pulls off his jacket, she rips off his tie, she pushes him up against the French doors, she rips open his shirt, she pushes him through the doors into the bedroom. About the only thing she doesn't do is de-pants him.

She pushes him onto the bed, and that nice little palm-to-palm hand-hold is her only concession to slow and savoring. (It looks to me like Dean initiates the hand-hold, btw.)

She crawls on top of him, in an aggressive and dominant position, and every time he wraps her in his arms and tries to be an equal partner in the proceedings, to spend some time in the dominant position pleasuring her, she forces him back.

She sucks his neck, she removes her bra. He's on the receiving end all evening.

His inclination and his style is slow and tender. To cradle and caress. To be an equal partner and pleasure her as much as she pleasures him. She wants none of it. This (as we find out later) is sex for her. Sex for the sake of breeding. Nothing more.

It's very apparent that Dean does not mind spending his entire evening on the receiving end of this kind of treatment. She pretty much didn't let him do anything.

Basically, he's not sure what hit him.

As a side note, girl-on-top is not the recommended position to use when trying to get pregnant. Granted, two healthy people can get pregnant from any position, but if pregnancy is the goal, man-on-top is the way to go. Which means, duh, getting pregnant wasn't the only issue here. Being dominant and controlling the whole situation was. Taking what she wanted, then killing him. (Oooohhh . . . black widow.) I'm also guessing that fertility is not an issue for these Amazons, and they must have some sort of body chemistry that kills off the Y-carrying sperm. Or they kill the boys. I'm not gonna go there.

But I digress . . .

This also leads me back to the point that the sex scenes we've seen Dean take part in were not merely "sex." They were making love. (Which, duh. But I just wanted to say it.)

But even when it's just a night of wanton sex, Dean tries to savor the moment. He obviously doesn't mind when his "workout partner" takes the wheel for the night, so to speak, but when he has a say in it, there's going to be an element of sweet and tender.

Which continues to be consistent with my observations about Dean's technique and character.

I'll get into the other half of the equation--Dean and fatherhood--in my highlights review.
