Check out a Buffyverse writer's original fiction?

Some of you know anaross, or are fans of her stories set in the Buffyverse (on AO3: My Life Closed Twice, Long Day's Journey, Ransomed, Healed, Restored, Forgiven, to name a few), Veronica Mars, or Firefly. A tremendous source of inspiration for me and among the reasons I swan-dived into the Buffy fandom as a writer. In fact, one of the first Buffy fanfic ( Read more... )

I went and nominated because I absolutely want to support my fellow writers and I hope she succeeds to a marvel! She deserves it!

Dig the ornaments!

I love the ornaments! So cute.

I wish anaross luck with the voting process. I hope her story gets selected.

Aren't they just? I don't see hedgehogs as ornaments very often, so I obviously had to pick that one up. And owls are just adorable. :)

Thanks, I hope everything works out for anaross, too!

Not only is Anaross one of the better authors who has worked in our fandom (ok, my fandom - others have moved on), she is a wonderful teacher who was very generous with her writing knowledge at each of the two Writer Cons I attended. She gave wonderful seminars for which she had obviously spent as much time and energy as she would have for a regular class for which people paid tuition. Her taking down her fics (her right, for sure) is going to be a huge loss to the still active fandom. How sad that new fans and/or prospective authors won't have a chance to read those stories.

Well, she's only taking down My Life Closed Twice to adapt into an original fic, which would be contractually required for publication. I'm glad - I hope it brings her commercial success and introduces more readers to her beautiful writing. For the rest of us fanficcers, there will still be plenty of her wonderful stories on various archives (23 alone in the Buffy fandom on AO3; she has a few stories for other fandoms, too), for which I'm thankful.

It's so awesome that you got to attend her seminars! I wish Writer Cons are still around!

I wish we still had them too, but I think the BtVS writers were the main organizers, and as they've faded away or moved on, so has the desire to put that much work into something. I was too new for the first one, but hit the next two and they were great fun as well as educational.
