the lakers make me sad. kobe sits out and their play becomes the visual equivalent of waitching william hung's rendition of ricky martin's "she bangs". like pepper spray, it stings the eyes. it hurts. bad. shots are missed. miles and miles of sea, and they couldnt put a pea in the ocean. it is sad. the lakers lack chemistry. the team isnt without number 8.then again, kobe is the team. it's like trying to run the solar system without the sun. it just aint happening. i contemplate whether kobe is the basketball god immaculate. cause thats how he plays. 62. in three quarters. 33 minutes. 31 shots. 62 points. he single-handedly outscored the opposing team. the season isnt even half over. there's hope. there always has to be hope. how could anyone continue to exist if they didnt have some hope? in an extremely idealistic world, the lakers would be playoff contenders every year simply because theyre a franchise centered in the entertainment capital of the world. some corporate sponsor of some kind (or jack nicholson) would drop millions and millions each year for the sake of keeping los angeles on its feet. this years lakers, to put it lightly, are BORING. the los angeles spotlight, no longer illuminating the traditional purple and gold, is now shining on the clippers. the fuckn clippers! if only the ideal could replace our realities. unfortunately, the world is cruel (but fair) and the lakers are gunna suck some years (this year being a prime example) i can accept that. i will still be loyal. the lakers are still my team. and i'll love them simply for having los angeles preceeding their name.
12.5 seconds. fourth quarter. 94-92. miami. christmas day.
