I HAZ KITTIES!!!

Well not quite yet, but they will be mine all mine very soon. Or more to the point, I will be their human slave soon.

Went to the rescue today with Ann and was graciously chosen by a lovely charcoal tabby queen with the consent of her handsome black consort (well brother actually). She's medium/large size, he's large, both short haired. They are a fair bit younger than I was planning on homing, only about 1.5 years old, but incredibly laid back and calm and tbh I wasn't really given much choice in the matter really - when that small elegant paw came out & claimed my hand I was totally lost.

We now have to sort out the logistics of when I can bring them home. Getting all the stuff I need sound be sorted by next weekend hopefully with the only really large item that has to be delivered (the tree) scheduled to arrive next Friday or the Monday after, and they just need final worming etc & micro-chipping from the shelter. We spent ages there today, and when I asked she said that as they will be indoors only and I clearly seemed to know what I was talking about plus had plenty of cat owning friends & family, no home check was needed :)

The issue will be work. I am determined to have at least a few days off to get them settled in, but we have our new apprentice due to start as soon as we get his dbs check back & then get him registered on the systems at head office. There's no way I can leave him on his own for at least a couple of weeks even though there's plenty of basic catching up to do, especially as the boss has a pretty solid diary already until mid-June. So I'm going to have a chat with the boss tomorrow and see if I can have the week after this one off or at least part of it - it is likely to take at least a couple of weeks to get the DBS done especially as they screwed up sending the on-line forms link to the apprentice so he didn't get it until Friday (sigh).
