I keep having to remind myself that today is not a Friday.
The past two days at school have been spent doing practice tests for our all important QCS exams next week. I didn't do fantastically well on the tests, but even so, I was on par or better than a great deal of people. I find it quite funny; our school is so concerned with its reputation, and have been hammering into our heads how important QCS is for us and the school. They always talk about doing better than last year's grade 12s, but the 'Kenmore Magic' seems to have been lost on our generation. I think the class of '05 will be remembered for all the wrong reasons. When I look at the golden generation that is the year 11s, and try to compare them with us, we get walked over in every respect. I can picture the teachers next year standing up in front of the grade 12s, and saying, "Come on year 12s, try and beat last year's year 12s...actually, perhaps you should try and beat the year 12s of '04 instead. If you're going to aim for something, you might as well aim at least marginally higher than your foot level." Yeah, I'm sure it'll be just like that.
No more school until next Monday. I've got a camera out until then, which I plan to use to film colourful things with different settings. Jess also has a camera booked out 'til then, so we'll film crap to get an idea of what our film could be like. On friday morning, Jess and I will go into school to play around with what we've filmed, and figure things out. At about 3 AM this morning, I finished my script for FTV. This afternoon, Jess and I exchanged scripts for the first time, and are trying to incorporate both of our ideas into one. We had both figured out some basic parameters, such as characters, genre, themes, and a basic storyline, but somehow our scripts still turned out pretty differently. It's kind of exciting planning out the whole thing, yet at the same time I know that this is going to be a near impossible job: finishing our film before the end of term.
Formal is this Friday night. I'm going to be going to Kristen's pre-formal party, then go by stretch limousine to the formal. Just about the entire grade is going to the one after party at Scott's house, which will be good in some ways, bad in others. I don't plan on entirely holding back, and I'm sure it's going to be a rather sleepless night, so it will be interesting to see how I fare at soccer that night. Top side again, and it's a tough opposition. Ergh...
