yesterday i bought 3 CDs for 300 baht (7 us dollars). they were:
My Chemical Romance Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge
Nine Inch Nails With Teeth
Alanis Morissette So Called Chaos
As of now, ive only listened to MCR and NIN, and ive got to just make a sort of review about them.
so yeah.
Ive heard about My Chemical Romance for about a year already, having seen music video sigs and just plain sigs about My Chemical Romance on LPU. like most things, LPU was divided on the subject on how good My Chemical Romance was. some said, "my overrated romance" and things like that, and others had their own My CHemical Romance Thread v. 12 and the My Chemical Chemical Romance Clan. so, having heard (and watched) Helena, i developed a mild interest in them, enough to give them a whirl.
Nine Inch Nails have been around for quite a while and even appeared (even if its just the name) on the Simpsons. so obviously i had a inkling just to see how good NIN was. listening to Closer, Perfect Drug and Wish (even if its a cover) it made me want to own a NIN album.
so since i did and now i have both albums and have mostly listened to the whole albums (mostly) i ahve this to say:
NIN > MCR
with teeth teeths on Three Cheers. sorry to MRC fans, but Nine Inch Nails tickles my fancy more than MRC for this one. granted, it is only MCRs 2nd album and they do have the room to improve.
With Teeth is sort of a hodgepodge of stuff, from dance sways and bounces to hard hitting drums.
Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge is more of a soaring sonic landscape of bleak, rocky mountains.
they both open up the album nicely with good songs, "All The Love In The World" for With Teeth and the song "Helena" for three cheers although both songs arent really good indicators of what the whole album is like. its like tasting the spicey part of the curry and not liking it. its like dipping a numb toe into a comfy pool. its like someone hiding a porn pic in the magazine "good housekeeping". yeah.
