Jamie Bell and Kate Mara attended the British Independent Film Awards last night in London. He didn't win, but the couple were in good spirit anyway.
Also last week, Variety released the video of Jamie and Robert Pattinson interviewing each other. It's rare to see Jamie as the more mature, more responsible person. Jamie is well prepared. Pattinson, not so much. I can't believe Jamie is only 2-month older. BTW, I still don't understand the appeal of Pattinson in real life. He looks and acts like a regular British dude.

Also Golden Globe nominations are out. As I expected, Film Stars Don't Live in Liverpool got 0. I wonder is this the end of Jamie's Oscar Campaign, or he'll try till the last minute? It seems to me the only reason they're doing this is because Barbara Broccoli has the money.
So far, the best 2017 movie I have seen is still The Shape of Water. So I am glad to see it getting all sorts of recognition this awards season. I also like The Big Sick.
I recently watched the movie Lady Bird and I am really not impressed. The teenager girl in the movie is the typical annoying daughter whom I have no patience for. She's so pretentious that she wants everyone to call her Lady Bird. She is often an ass to her mother, to her best friend. Her flaws are so prominent that the occasional kindness she showed in this movie cannot redeem herself. But I think Laurie Metcalf's mother character is good, I am glad she got a Golden Globe nomination. In the past, I only know Metcalf as Sheldon Cooper's mother from The Big Bang Theory. Lady Bird made news for its 99% Rotten Tomatoes score after 200+ reviews. But this only means most critics think positive about it. If you look at its average rating, the score is 8.8, lower than Call Me By Your Name.
I am listening to the audio book of CMBYN now. I think I will love it more than Lady Bird. Both protagonists are teenagers, one is a gay boy, the other is a hetero girl. Both are rebellious in their own way, but at least the boy in CMBYN is not as loud as Lady Bird. Also CMBYN is set in Northern Italy, the other is set in Sacramento, California. So of course, CMBYN is more interesting to me. I am thinking of going to Toronto to see CMBYN, but I need to find out which theater has advance screenings of this movie.
And tomorrow I will see The Disaster Artist. I hope I will like it.
