Mark Strong, is that you?

I seldom watch Mark Strong doing promotion, so this is new. He was very animated yesterday at the Kingsman: The Golden Circle premiere.

Anyway, the reviews of Kingsman: The Golden Circle premiere are out. The consensus is the movie is too loud and too long and too little of Channing Tatum.

I think I know that from the beginning. Channing only filmed for like one week, so how much screen time could he have? Not a lot. But they make full use of his name to promote this movie, so I wonder if some other Channing fans will feel cheated esp. if they're not a fan of the original movie.

Also it seems the movie is still cringe worthy when it comes to treating female characters. Here is an excerpt of a review from indiewire.com.

The Statesman may be great technological inventors, but that apparently hasn’t allowed them to pioneer tracking device technology in an major way. During the film’s most uncomfortable - and, quite frankly, most confusing - sequence, Eggsy targets the ditzy girlfriend of the baddie who went after him during the film’s opening, the sole lead in a case gone cold, implanting her with a tracking device that can only be pushed into her bloodstream via vaginal insertion. Have the Statesmen never heard of a needle? Popping a pill in some food, like you’d do with a sneaky pet? Just not shoving things up people’s private parts in service to an already flat-footed narrative device?

Seriously, I hope it is not the idea from the female cowriter Jane Goldman. I'm never a fan of the first movie nor the lead Taron Egerton, so sitting through this 141-min movie to see Channing's five-minute scenes will be a challenge. But at least Mark Strong will sing "Country Roads Take Me Home", so I'm looking forward to that too.
