I have the power to quit

I just read the SFX interview with Johnny Capps. Look at my icon, you can see how I am feeling at this moment.

It's not a real shocker. I think during the time of the May 2010 London Expo, we have already heard about it. But what really bothers me is the way Johnny Capps talked about it. Series 25 milllion?!!! Mr. Capps, it's not funny.

Here's the quote:

I think that part of the format of the show is that Merlin keeps his magic a secret, just as Superman keeps his identity secret - and I think Arthur not knowing about it is the heart of the show. Presumably at some point Arthur would find out, but I think that would be very late on - series 25 million, perhaps!

Now I really feel bad for Bradley.

Also by keeping Merlin's magic from Arthur, they are gradually ruining the Merlin & Arthur relationship. I guess they might do it on purpose. You know, Merlin cannot be honest with Arthur, and Morgana is evil, so Arthur can only turn to Gwen for emotional support during difficult times. How convenient!

Here's the quote:

What's fun (Fei: it's not fun at all after 2 series) about the Arthur/Guinevere relationship is that while Uther remains king and Gwen is of lowly class, there is a huge barrier between them. Very early on in the series we see scenes of Gwen giving Arthur great emotional support through difficult decisions he has to make, and you glimpse what they'll ultimatelu be like as king and queen.

I also feel bad for some of the writers. From previous interviews, we can see the story outline is controlled by the producers. The writers are just puppet who are hired to execute the producers' ideas.

The show has changed a  lot, it is no longer the show I came to love. At this time, I am very disappointed with the spoilers. However, I will still give the first few episodes of Series 3 a chance. As a viewer, I know don't have power over the development of the show. But I have the power to quit the show when it is becoming bad.

merlin 3, personal thoughts
