mice, destiny, and the pursuit of caffeinated beverages

I forgot to set the alarm last night, but I woke myself up at 715. Nice job, I must say.

I had my cereal, and I was sitting down to eat when I noticed something small and gray-brown scurrying across my kitchen floor. Yes, I let out the obligatory "EEEEE!" There is a mouse in my kitchen. Just one that I can tell. I am now on the quest for ultrasonic pest control. One for every outlet in my home.

But what to do about the little guy who has moved in? Mat said to glue trap him, but that's just kinda wrong. I mean, what are the chances that if I caught him and let him go outside that he would find his way back to my specific apartment? There are ten floors! Maybe he's a homing mouse? All I know is that when I close my eyes, I see him scurry again and again.

So, of course, the only thing I could do was to carry on with the day. I took a shower, got dressed and started my Tuesday workday. I decided to take the bus, and just as I was kicking myself for doing it, a woman got on who was very uncertain about where she was going. Fortunately for her, she was going to the same place I was, so I told her - "That's where I work. You're on the right bus. I'll help you get there, no problem."

I mentioned that I don't normally take the bus, and she said, "The Lord put you in my path today."

And I guess so. Sure.

Got here, got Mat, got to my desk. Left almost immediately for Starbucks, which was open today! It's always better when Mat can come with. Read about our caffeine quest from last week here.
