Quite a bit has changed

Well, I'm exhausted from my HA rating. It was 2 1/2 days of rigorous testing, but it was longer for me. It was a 6 1/2 hr drive up there, leaving at 10 am Thursday, spending the evening studying/prepping last minute materials for the test. Friday morning I judged a little show for the campers at the facility, then noon came and my test started. I picked a horse's name out of the hat, and it was a TINY horse. This pony was about 40 inches tall, no joke. I have pictures. So, I had to adapt all of my equipment (I can't see over MY horse's back...) to this little guy. This rating, I realized, was the hardest test I've ever taken in my life. It was 48 straight hours (homework given when we were allowed to sleep) of rediculously detailed and stringent testing on all aspects of horse care and handling. No other subject is as important to me. Never have I been tested to the full depth of my knowledge.

I had a great time, and I made some cool new friends, that I will go email now. I'm going to try to keep in touch. There were people from Hawaii, Oregon and upstate New York. 11 people attempted the test. I think 5 passed, although I'm not 100% certain.

So I had a REDICULOUSLY tiring weekend. I barely made it through the day today, I was so tired. I've just been worn down by hard days and then a continuous lack of sleep due to studying for the HA. I have 2 weeks to get myself together, because the B is August 11-13. That's a lot less knowledge, and very stringent riding. I'm not worried.

Well, not only has my pony club rating changed. The people leasing my horse ended the lease, so now I have a horse to support. Through college. I don't think I'm going to try to lease her out. I'm not even planning spring semester, but I'm hoping to find a cheap place to keep her this fall. Which means I need a mode of transport, which might turn out to be a road bike, or even a motorcycle. 45 miles per gallon, anyone? Heck yeah.

And I'm out of money. That's been the major crisis. My job at school pays well, but I have 7 shows, a horse to get to and ride, rediculous amounts of class (I'm avoiding counting the hours per week), and horse shows to get to. Plus, if I go abroad spring semester, I won't make money to store up for summer. Which means no competitions. Which means no 1*. Which means no Young Rider's the next year. That's what's new.

Cort's been helping me out with the barn search, but we definitely need to plan stuff as friends. I'm home Monday night, August 21st. I think I say this at the end of every post. Email me, or something.
