The outline is expanding scene by scene (jotted down 17 yesterday - didn't write them, just noted what they would be) and last night (just before bed which is always the way) I finally figured out why Niall would have been sent on such a detail on his own - it's a punishment for not playing well with others. I've started revisions on the YA urban (rural?) fantasy novel that's refusing to tell me its title and so far things are going well. I've cut out the first three chapters as being the wrong place to start and now it's more firmly in the action which is good. All of the notes for changing draft 1 (or zero, more properly I suppose) have been noted and now it's just for me to implement them. It's interesting, coming back to it after a fairly long gap. Perhaps I should have given up at Draft 1, Attempt 3. In all probability I should really have given up by Draft 1, Attempt 7 but, last night, just as I was about to turn the light out (and isn't that always the way?) I've reached 98,421 words on the urban fantasy so not long to go until I hit 100K and then around 15-20K after that draft zero will be done! (Crosses pencils in hope.) I should already be over the 100K mark because I wrote a large segment longhand but decided during the typing up process that a large chunk really wasn't necessary. Forward motion is forward once more and we are at 73,532 words. I'm estimating no more than 50K more for a draft zero (it would be too polite to call it a first draft) and then there will be hack and slashery.

I've breached the 50k barrier (woo!) and have one chapter to go before reaching the end of part one. I'm so pleased, I can't wait to get onto part two. I've slowed down a fair bit in the last few weeks as we've approached the new term. Hopefully, I can pick things up again during my lunch breaks and crack on a bit more.
