Was in Salisbury at the weekend, for a wedding.
Alex26 was getting married. I received my invite before Christmas then promptly forgot about it till a couple of weeks before the event.
I travelled up on Saturday morning. The other Renegades had driven up on Friday. It was quite bitterly cold, harbinger of the snow we had at the start of the week. I changed into my party frock and set off for the venue. Had time to wander round outside the
cathedral beforehand, which was cool. I did
The Spire as an A level text, so it was interesting to see the cathedral which inspired it.
The wedding was held at the
Medieval Hall. Lovely site, with garlands of dry foliage left up from Christmas, adding to the setting. Alex looked stunningly beautiful, and I honestly don't think I've ever seen a couple look so joyful and so happy and obviously in love with each other on their wedding day as she and Don did.
Reception was at the Guildhall, with many interesting monuments, memorials and paintings on the walls. Dinner was followed by dancing, with "Dave the DJ" spinning the tracks. Had a drink and a dance with my friends. Dragged myself back to my hotel some time in the small hours.
Next day, I surfaced for breakfast, packed, then headed out. I looked in on the
Rifles museum, but sadly it wasn't opening for the year till today. the phrase
"it is Winter!" came into my head...
