Went over to SW London (Nice Part) yesterday for WW's birthday. I missed the meal on saturday, as the guys were still working on the central heating here into the evening.
We had a couple of drinks, and quite excellent burgers, at the Norbiton and Dragon, then went back to WW and Bryony's place for DVDs, more drinks and a sumptuously cooked chicken with all the trimmings. Rupert was there, up for the weekend, and it was good to see him again.
We watched 300, and The Departed. Or, rather, I watched the former and most of the latter but had to go early as the trains weren't running and I needed rail replacement buses. It was well after midnight when I got home as it was.
Today was first day of a two-day 1st aid requalification course. Run by St John Ambulance. Interesting - I knew they'd changed CPR protocol, but didn't know how much it had been simplified. Also, they now teach treatment of knife and gunshot wounds. Because they're increasingly likely to be encountered, apparently. Also, things have become even more risk-averse than before. You aren't supposed to shake a casualty to test for a response any more - the most you can do is tap their shoulders, lest you be accused of abuse.
Just had dinner - pork chop with pepper pasta - the sort of dish you end up inventing when you discover that you don't have the ingredients in the cupboard that you thought you did...

food, friends, first aid, pubs
