Went to Burn Soo Bright last night. Another well Airwolf evening. Good to see Franck again and have a beer or two. The theme was "transport" and Pete had tricked out his decks with a "car" bonnet and windscreen, with lights and windscreen wipers and everything. The DJs all had "be seen, be safe" hi-vi strips on their clothes. minx2012 played a set, as well as the usual sterling DJing from silverjet_allie and Pete. Lots of people there, and good music played.
Enjoyed this week's Doctor Who more than previous Daleks and showgirl-meets-pigman-girl-loses-pigman-girl-gets-pigman-back story (by the way, was I the only one who reacted to Dalek Sec's "we can leave our shells!" with "good! then we can shoot you!"?).
Liked the script, thought Mark Gatiss was good, liked the nod to Quatermass in using the cathedral for the finale. The Spinal Tap gag wasn't bad (and less jarring than the Are You Being Served reference last week). Martha continues to be refreshingly smart. Did find the "Mr Saxon" references heavy-handed and annoying, but maybe it'll be worth it once that plot line is developed.
One thing I wondered. At the end, the TARDIS is at Martha's place and she leaves without taking any of her stuff with her. Even Rose thought to pack a bag when she had a chance. It gave me the idea of posing a meme-like question: if you were about to leave home in two minutes for an indefinite period to travel through the five dimensions of time and space alongside the last of the Time Lords (or is he?), what kit would you grab to take with you?
