Olivia from the softball team's birthday was yesterday, so some of us went to her birthday drinks at The Peasant. Including Ben. We all wished him well, 'cos he's a really nice bloke, but we will miss him when he goes to play for the Kamikazes. And we will tell our pitchers to throw at his head if we play his team in a tournament this Summer.
Enjoyed the Budvar on tap, and wished various people "happy new year". Remember having a really interesting conversation with Olivia's boyfriend about the psycholinguistic basis of Irish grammar, and talking about graphic novels with Ben and Julian.
This morning I finally managed to pick up my package of Christmas cookies from elhamisabel. Bless her kind, generous heart. I'd expected a packet of a few biscuits, but she sent a box full of all kinds of cookies: chocolate-covered, butter-laden, christmas shapes, spicy... that was so kind. I was really rather touched.
I also had a haircut, and bought ingredients for a beef stroganoff made in my new slow cooker (a Christmas present from my mum). It's been bubbling away quietly since lunchtime, and it's just about ready now. Time to eat...
