I've been meaning to respond to this for a while...
Who are you, Jenn? In my drunken state I challenged someone to say something non-dissapointing and you met that challenge with gusto. You are definetly in color.
In your comment here I particularly like how you just spilled your thoughts and followed their flow even if it seemed strange. Fuck form. I can see you better when you don't disguies things with form. Fuck spelling disguise.
I always really enjoy your writing because it is so honest and present -often times bold. It's funny when I look back at the one time we hung out because the way you interacted with me (at first at least) was very much not like your writing. You seemed very quiet, shy, and soft spoken. I guess that's understandable because you had never met me in person and didn't know me that well outside of my on-line personality. What is your whole take on that? Why were you so quiet and subdued in person when your writing is so loud and revealing?
I really wish you had come to State. I am sad to say that their are few people of real interest in my life right at the moment. I am curious about you.
you can't talk and write at the same time. writing is a constant organizing of the mind. it isn't just pen on paper or fingers on keys, it's mind on planet. i'm quiet because i'm listening. to you, to the air, to the spaces in between and above sound, and then i'm trying to figure out how to make them come back out of me sounding just as good, something my voice can do little to help. i'm not a shy person, there's just too much other stuff i'd rather listen to than myself.
Hmmm. For some reason I'm not buying that. I think you are shy and that you're making up a clever reason to excuse how you may not be that outward in person (at least, at first when you are getting to know someone).
Also, a lot of your writing I really enjoy because it DOESN'T look as though you take effort in picking just the right way to convey something. You just stream it onto paper -some stuff some people might get but oh well. As a reader I can pick and choose what hits me about what you write. Something in your writing makes me think that you don't ever seem to be too upset if you're not coming across 100% to someone.
Aditionally, don't you think there is benefit to sharing yourself spontaneously in the moment when in person. React to something in front of a person then watch their reaction then react to that. There is a lot of joy and delight that can be had from that. Don't you ever want to participate and/or create the moments that you are so activly seeking? For me that is why I love improvisational theatre.
What do you think about all of that?
I think your shy in person and it'd have to take another session of me hanging out with you to confirm or deny that suspision.
maybe you are right. maybe you are right half of the time. isn't everyone shy some of the time? mostly i just don't like talking unless i have something to say. i don't remember feeling shy when i met you, i just didn't have a whole lot of things to say. i think the discrepencies here are why you are in school for acting and i am in school for writing.
