Yuletide Reveal!

Jan 02, 2014 23:48

This was the second year in a row where I matched on two fandoms with my recipient - does anyone know if that's a new feature of the matching process, or did I just get lucky twice? My recipient wrote wonderful prompts, and I had Grand Plans to write two legit stories for Yuletide this year. GRAND PLANS! One was going to be for The Heat, and it was going to feature holiday dinners and unexpected cohabitation and kittens and it pretty much came to be:

Brass in Pocket (7111 words) by fearlessfan
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: The Heat (2013)
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: Author Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Relationships: Sarah Ashburn/Shannon Mullins
Characters: Sarah Ashburn, Shannon Mullins
Summary:
Ashburn and Mullins from Thanksgiving til Christmas, featuring a holiday dinner, a condemned apartment, unexpected cohabitation, and unwise Christmas gifts.

The second one was going to be for A League of Their Own, and it was less well-formed in my mind, but I had a pretty solid set of things in my head I wanted to do, about Mae and Doris and their lives before the movie and after leaving baseball. I almost started writing it without watching the movie again because I'd seen it within the last couple of years, and didn't remember there being anything specific about Mae and Doris's history. But LUCKILY I did make time to watch it, because they totally do talk about how they met, and offer some details about their lives post-baseball that totally undercut the story I had half-written in my mind, and so I found myself writing a little vignette about the how-they-met referred to in the movie instead:

Not Words but Meanings (1086 words) by fearlessfan
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: A League of Their Own (1992)
Rating: Not Rated
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Mae Mordabito, Doris Murphy
Summary:
Mae Mordabito meets Doris Murphy in late September of 1942.

I meant to do the fic-year-in-review meme too, but I find myself too sleepy! Perhaps later. I am hoping to write more in 2014, which is almost always my wish when I write up those things, but one of these years it will be true.

Happy 2014 to all of you!

my fic, yuletide
