So, I've got a more personal angle on the whole Lebanon thing.
My friend Thumper (who used to call GC back in the day) got married a few years back to a wonderful woman from Beirut, Lebanon. They have 3 children together, the youngest just two weeks old.
His wife had gone to Lebanon with their two children to have the baby, as her family is there. Thumper was supposed to fly in on the 14th, but was unable to, due to the bombings at the airport.
He got as far as Prague, before he realized he couldn't get through, so he came back home (to the US).
He wanted to get his wife evacuated, but unfortunately the newborn doesn't have a passport, which is causing no end of trouble.
Anyway, he's been trying to get the govt to help, and was even on the news yesterday.
I've posted the clip to youtube.
