Last Sunday we wanted to see the movie "The Favorite". But, it was only playing much closer to Boston.
So, we drove in towards the city and went to a theater near the Charles river.
We did walk along the river some before the movie. My wife liked the ice that formed at the edge of the water.
They form naturally, but look a lot like the fairy lights she makes.
The waterfall certainly churns up the water a lot to help form them.
The log that got stuck halfway over certainly built up a lot of ice.
Of course other other sticks got a lot of ice too.
We did walk about for a bit, despite it being fairly cold.
It is a nice view of the river. The water certainly looked cold.
My weather app certainly seemed to think it was cold. (Yes, in C not F…)
The geese seem to want us to get off the bridge and dive bombed us.
After the movie, I did walk up to the science fiction store near there and bought some Daleks. There just aren’t that many places you can do that.
This week there was a lot of work getting ready for the customer.
These foam lids became the bane of the late part of the week.
I almost got disgusted enough to walk off, but ultimately did not.
I spent most of the time at our manufacturing building.
Because of the customer visit, employees were asked to use the little used upstairs bathroom. What could go wrong?
Spiders?
Strange blocks like in some Doctor Who episodes?
The customers brought a wearable, voice activated video camera.
But, in the end they were happy.
Phoenix Swords does a good enough safety job we get Christmas cards from our insurance company.
On the way to game night Friday, my wife really liked these lights.
Then, game night.
We started with a Yankee Swap of presents.
It was Zosh’s birthday so we brought her a cake.
Then, on to games.
Saturday we drove off to New Hampshire.
30 years ago, I lived up there when I worked for the music synthesizer company. Near where I lived there was a store that sold interesting rocks and gems. As my wife now makes fairy lanterns, we decided to go there so she could get supplies.
It’s about 2 1/2 hours each way.
It is a pretty drive.
The shop is still there.
Even if wild turkeys roam their driveway,
I asked why the turkey crossed the road. It did not answer.
It is very close to a lake we used to visit a lot.
We drove along it on the return trip.
One of my coworkers (the one holding the foam lids in the photo above) has a weekend place in Vermont and invited us to stop by.
So we drove over to Vermont to see him.
Sadly, some of the photos didn’t come out due to dirty car windows.
But, we still saw plenty there.
His place is near that mountain I think I skied on 45 years ago.
There were some dirt roads and big hills. I’m glad it was above freezing as I’d hate to do that on ice.
His house is very nice.
We didn’t visit too long as it was getting dark and the temperature was dropping.
As we drove back, we went through the town where my first job after school was.
I hated that job.
For dinner we stopped at our favorite place, O’Connor’s.
They were very busy, so we got our food to go.
It was a fun day trip, but today we have to catch up with everything we had planned to do yesterday…
