I had heard the Grand Canyon was amazing, but actually being there was truly breathtaking. My mind had a hard time wrapping around its size: it was hard to imagine that this river carved through all this rock over millenia. My favorite part was just to sit for a few minutes taking in the view and immense silence.
The hue of the rocks changed constantly depending on the light.
This is the lookout at Guano Point, which offered 360-views of the Canyon.
This is from Eagle Point, where the
Grand Canyon Skywalk is located. (Do you see the eagle-like rock formation?)
There used to be a guano mining operation in the Grand Canyon. Did you know bat poop was used in cosmetics back in the day?
My travel buddy Jerry the moose also came along with me.
On the way there, our tour guide made a pitstop at the Hoover Dam.
The ride to the Grand Canyon passed through a bit of the Mojave desert, which made me realize I had never really been in a desert landscape before. It was so dry and arid that it reminded me of the surface of Mars. We went to the Grand Canyon's West Rim, which is owned by the Hualapi Native American tribe.
I definitely hope to go back and explore the canyon more. Hike down perhaps? Or a helicopter ride?
