Day 12 - A song from a band you hate
There are very few bands I actively hate. I can't think of any bands that have *no* redeeming moments at all. What I do hate are bands that take themselves far too seriously and completely believe themselves to be messianic rock gods. While I dearly wish that Bono would STFU I will always have an affection for early 90s U2. Coldplay are incredibly bland but I have a soft spot for Parachutes. Who do I aim my ire at for this post?
Oasis: D'You Know What I Mean?
This song and video perfectly illustrates *everything* that was awful about Oasis. The Gallagher brothers are the worst kind of scally-lads done good. Liam can't sing and if Noel tries to do anything that isn't a Lennon/McCartney knockoff it shows the world that the emperor really does have no clothes on. Its alarming at how quickly a promising, if slightly derivative, indie rock band turned into this behemoth of pomposity - a 7 minute videos with helicopters and smoke bombs FFS!
