Not safe for work rant
The adage does go around that experience matters more than what your paper qualifications says, however I believe both of these go hand in hand to make a better & rounded professional.
I do admit that this person has more than 10 years of experience, still that edge of business savvy is lacking. The transparency of communication is opaque. Even the brand manager admits truth in that this is due to the cultural upbringing and educational background of this store manager. Well you can be ethnic Chinese, but you certainly don't have to act like you come from those cultural trappings which makes your thinking narrow. Plus, the English fluency is only as if you're up to Form 5 and nothing more.
As much as the experience allows solid form of daily operations; as per claimed by the Brand Manager, I find myself slowly drawn to the charisma of my Assistant Manager who is more than capable. At least I have confidence in her. The onion head himself...he is reactionary to incidences and not really proactive. Some will claim otherwise but my observation says that he hasn't truly detached himself from the Sales Associate who has gained power and doesn't want to do hands on work. Unlike my AM who is truly hands on in whatever she does, truly my respect is for her.
In addition, what kind of manager promotes that the IRB people are out to catch 'the big fish' and not low earners like us? I don't get it, paying your personal income tax is a civic duty and mandatory, provided you have reached that capped amount of monthly income. If he were to do his taxes next year, imagine the amount that he has been AVOIDING for these past 10 years? It wouldn't be myself who told him so but others will say the same. Again, the Chinese mentality of thinking; especially those who come from small outstation towns. My pet hate of Chinese comes from Penang, Klang, and Johor.
Point is, why wallow in all these trappings? Why not improve yourself? Answer: Lazy. You're already comfortable with the money and that shows that you're not willing to move beyond. You've reached that 'so called pinnacle' and that all you got to show is the bi annual clearance sales which you will buy at 70% off (a good bargain by the way) to show that you have the brand's products. Oh because of that also, you don't even save money!!
Did I not even mention about that concubine that the Empress is keeping? The concubine has more ulterior motives, using the Empress as a stepping stone towards better promotion. Dog eat dog world. Best thing is that Empress already has a partner. Its a weird 3 way relationship.
