Baby Anthony is OK! He has a long way to go and will spend at least a month in ICU on all kinds of medications to keep him from rejecting the organs, etc., but he is through the surgery and in the best care possible with a new liver and new intestines. Medical science is truly amazing. All the older boys are at school and will be going home to their own homes this afternoon--Aidan here and the others home with their Mom to hear all about how their brother's surgery went. Right now, I have Gage, and all is relatively still.
Thank you, everyone, for all the positive energy, prayer, ritual, meditation, etc. Clearly it worked. We can and should keep it going until the organs are acclimated and he can start to take in nutrition orally (which this 10 month old baby has never done--he has eaten through a G-tube since birth), but the immediate danger has passed.
Hope all is well with all of you. Don't be afraid to call out if there is another need out there--I have no problems sending my energy to your good cause as well.
Happy day, and a moment of reflection for all. The beauty of perspective is granted again through this--whatever life has handed me, my children have all their organs and are not facing mortality odds.
Love (as a way of life)
