I'm late as fuck to this party but good luck with the immigration stuff! I did it, so it only follows logically that they'll let anyone at all into this country - you should have no problemo.
But seriously though, keep heart, I know it's stressful.
Thanks! I just wish I knew what to expect from it. I know what happened with my Mums interviews and whatnot but because I'm filing as her daughter and not for marrying an American we have no idea if the situation is even going to be the same.
There's also the fact that I had been in the country quite a while before we filed (We just didn't have the money) and I came in on a visitors visa and a whole bunch of other things which could make it all go tits up. I do however have a temporary work permit so that surely has to count for something, maybe?
Things were kind of complicated when I moved here, too, because even though my family and I are originally from Italy, we were living in Canada because of my dad relocating with his job when we decided to move to NY. So it was totally insane and I was mostly too young to remember anything other than OMG SHITTONNES OF CRAY CRAY interviews and office-y things and my parents just being like AHHHHHHHHHH! STRESS! but it all worked out in the end and I've been living (mostly) happily in NY for the past 12 or 13-ish years. Mostly I just miss being able to have a tan, the frigid north has murdered my sunkissed glow and I'm now the approximate colour of skimmed milk.
So, hopefully all goes well and you can party down! Because man, if I were you, I'd go get hammered after all this is over. No joke.
We are totally planning to! Me and Fav are going to my friends place and if we can't convince her to go to a club we're forcing her to watch Iron Man and getting shitfaced
( ... )
Oh, if it were not during the week I would have to do that.
We moved to Canada when I was almost 9 and then to New York less than a year later. I still hate speaking in English, American censorship and cold weather. AND OH MY GOD, WHAT THE FUCK, AMERICAN FOOD. Some things are better here though, I guess.
It's lame that everything had to be so confusing and sucky for you, but hopefully things will clear up and you can find some cheap booze around wherever you end up. I know fuck-all about Indiana, but there's this amaaaaazing bar here that has Penny Pitcher night and even if the beer is shitty, you can get so much of it that you stop caring.
