What is the oddest gift you have been given?

Hm. That is a difficult question to answer - I do not often receive gifts, per se, since most things I receive are by way of repayment for debts owed me. Or, occasionally, stolen.

The only true gifts I have received, as far as I can recall and in different ways, were both the gift of my life back to me.

The first time was when Portico found me beaten and bleeding in a London alley and, for reasons I never fully understood, chose to take me into his home and have me nursed back to health. That also gave me the gift of a new chance, in London Below. I did all I could to repay that debt, to Lord Portico and, after his death, to his daughter.

The second came from Old Bailey, who was repaying a debt to me, in his way, but went to lengths to do so that were not required, and in any case, I was in no position to enforce the debt had he chosen to default. He could have left me dead, or brought me back but left me in the hands of the Sewer Folk, condemning me to a life of especially vile slavery or worse. He did neither. That was a gift.

Those things, therefore, while not particularly odd in themselves, are the oddest gifts I have been given, by virtue of being the only gifts I have been given.
