Owarimashita!

Another busy, stressful, eventful (but good!) day for me here in Japan. Today was the actual "event" day where, during which I had to sing, dance, act, AND perform a speech--all in Japanese! And it just so happened that it was in front of about 100 people AND a TV camera that's going to post it live on the stations here in the city I'm staying it. I mean seriously, the camera was IN MY FACE during most of the event..but it was still wonderful. Everything went well and the host families loved it so that's what counts, not me messing up everything about my song and speech. I think it was a great way to really say 'thank you' to all the wonderful people who have hosted us here in Japan--though I know that I can't thank my family NEARLY enough for all that they've done and will continue to do. They already have a big day planned for me tomorrow (including learning Caligraphy!), so I'm looking very forward to it.

As for more about today, it was spent mostly practicing for the event, HOWEVER, we spent about 5 hours of it cooking for all the people who've been cooking for us all week. I was the one that went shopping for our team (making Guacamole and a Mandrin Salad) and it was my first experience in a Japanese grocery store. I was surprised and thankful for all of the Japanese that I DID know, but it wasn't too hard to navigate. It reminded me a lot of foodlion, actually (except cleaner :P). But it was really awesome, and I want to go back and get a few things before I leave--though some of the things I got, I realized my host family actually already bought for me today!

I plan on cooking for them tomorrow (wish me luck!) and so they bought the ingredients that I would need (which they didn't have to, but they are epic and awesome and did anyway). I plan on making crepes...but we'll see how it goes. But they are so sweet--they know I don't like milk, so they got me soymilk! (a bit different than what it tastes like in America). You know what else is different? GREEN TEA DONUTS. Never thought I would do this again, but I ended up eating a donut tonight with my family (it's currently 11:30pm SO LATE TO EAT) this evening while watching Howl's Moving castle (in Japanese, of course). But OMGosh it was delicious....filled with peices of green-tea candy and creme cheese and part of it had green-tea flavored frosting. I think it's my favorite donut now and it should DEFINITELY be brought to America~~~

Enough of me blabbing about food (though I ate WAY too much of it today). Hope everyone's well and I'll post more pictures up soon once I have my two days with my family tomorrow! Tanoshisoune?
