pull my finger

I learned a very important lesson on Saturday. Essentially, that lesson was that one should never hang onto the doorframe of a car when changing a tyre, when the door is open. Particularly if one's lovely wife does not see the fingers on the door frame when she shuts the door. Because it hurts. Quite a bit.

My wild gesturing and lack of coherent sentences immediately led to the door being opened, and my fingers were released. To a distant observer (had there been any) my mad dancing about on the road would have been quite amusing. But the nearby cows didn't care.

But I also learned that whatever little chemicals the brain releases to combat pain make the idea of being potentially stranded on a back road in the middle of nowhere extremely funny. But not for a few minutes. It hurts too much for a few minutes.
