...Watch 'Em Drop!...

Day Six was, but now is not. Our show tonight in the Metamora park got cut a bit short by weather, but we played the entire first set and a majority of the second before calling it a night and giving in to the rain. And, unlike last time we were rained out there, people stuck around in the covered areas and in their cars while we continued to play from the gazebo and instead of just quitting mid-set we jumped some less-exciting tunes and went straight to the end, so I got to finish with a strong Sing, Sing, Sing. It's really not a show if I haven't played that, so this one had a sense of finality that last year's was lacked. I'm pleased with my performance this evening, and the rest of the band sounded great, too!

I think I finally have the Sing, etc. and Zoot Suit Riot beats seperated in my head enough that I won't accidentally slip into the wrong one (as often). That bugged me all last season, so I was pleased tonight when I stayed in the correct beat for a circa 98% of the song. My solo break could have been better, but I managed to do a little bit of tempo-shift stuff in the hands over the steady feet, and mixed a few passages of straight into the swing (thanks, Kevin), so I'm moving in a good direction. I haven't fully arrived yet, but I'll keep workin'.

After the show I went by Little Caesar's and grabbed a Hot-N-Ready - What a stroke of brilliance that was on their part! Their pizza...I mean...it's not the best, true...but it's just Waiting to be picked up! No prep, no call ahead, no waiting...just Pizza. It's the kind of instant gratification that makes America great (and obese) (and impatient) (but if you ignore those things, it's super great!).

Tomorrow (later today, technically) I get my scheduled activity out of the way early in the morning with a quartet rehearsal at church, then I have the rest of the day to do as I please. I forsee eating well, taking a nap, and playing video games. That all sounds pretty nice ind33d.

And now to bed...by way of the Tums (just in case).
