Entry #A-2
"As"
Amazing, how the day ended up. The second half was very interesting. I discovered that my friend Maddie has the exact same personality type according to the Myers-Briggs test: INTJ. It's an unusual enough type, but we're very similar, and I don't feel competitive towards her in the least. I asked if she wanted to be Moriarty or Holmes, since the alternate label for this type is "mastermind", and even though the joke was funny it definitely wasn't Goku vs. Vegeta. It feels nice to have so much in common with someone. She wants to start a Japanese club next semester, and has asked me if I'd be interested in helping to teach others the language. Hai!
I have attacked American Heritage studies with a renewed vigor, a bit late in the semester, but hopefully enough to reverse the horrific cycle of apathy that I have been teetering on stilts through. The midterm is still on Wednesday, but if I approach the material calmly and think through what these tedious dead men were trying to say, I'm sure I can internalize it enough to do well on the test.
I registered for next semester's classes this afternoon, after my scheduled time, but I was able to get into every course I wanted. It's all science and math, with Damn Orchestra and private violin lessons. English will be but a wistful memory... but my GPA will thank me for it.
I did skip studio class and Damn Orchestra, which I felt bad about... and worse, when my teacher called me this evening to ask if everything was OK. But I'd hit something of a stride in my American Heritage internalization marathon, and to stop for something as dull as Damn Orchestra would have been ludicrous. I explained this to her (without mentioning the word "Damn"), and she understood, and moved our lesson to Thursday. Which I'm so... so.... so thankful for. Now I get a bit more time to sleep the only time of day I actually CAN, and more time to study for this impending midterm.
Dinner wasn't excellent (SAGA never is), but it could have been worse. I like Monday nights; chicken patties with parmesan cheese and sauce. When you're really hungry, it can be the best thing in the world.
Tonight I took a brief break for anime club. Three people, including myself, showed up. Hillsdale is a terrible place, if you like anime, because the people who share your hobby are few and far between, and even if you run into one, the chances of them admitting it are slim to none. But we watched the first four episodes of "Paranoia Agent," which is a fascinating series. I'd like to see more of it.
Walked back to my dorm with Garrett. On the way we were playfully assaulted by a set of giddy young women and Ben, who wanted to go "puddle jumping" in the construction yard between buildings. Garrett looked like he had serious misgivings, but I took off my shoes and rolled up my jeans just to surprise him. Truly, though, it's a cool, stirring kind of night, with a brisk breeze, just balmy enough to get away with bare feet if you must. The kind of night that makes you feel like you could fly. I didn't want to sully my clothes more than necessary, so I refrained from jumping, instead just stepping in the puddles and wondering what I look like from behind, since that's where Garrett was. Pretty soon, he joined in, until I mentioned that the possibility of there being broken glass in the muddy water was very real. The game seemed to disband, or at least lose it's wild energy, after that.
I took a shower and did my wash tonight. I love clean things...
Overall... I give the day a 7 out of 10.
The good:
