Project New Leaf: A-1

Entry #A-1

"A"

There is no such thing as truly turning over a new leaf. I don't even have a desire or the need to, but since it's been a rather long time since I've kept anything resembling a journal or blog, I might as well. I keep few friends and fewer enemies, so I see no danger in the occasional Project post.

Here is the new format: I will post ten entries for every letter of the alphabet, because I like that system and it provides me with a plan for the execution of this journal. 260 entries... before I die. Yes, that seems fit... though I don't plan to die anytime soon, it will be nice to have some sort of reference to my life, in the unlikely event that something should happen to me. At the very least, a record of ambitions, regrets, thoughts...

I am Alexis. I'm introspective, but hate to dwell on myself. These records are for my reference, but anyone reading them should not expect to see detailed lists of my personality traits. I have a relatively good picture of who I am, and don't need to analyze it from every angle. I detest myself in a plethora of ways, so I try to avoid putting my personality on a glass slide and shining a bright light under it while scrutinizing it through a lens. It would most likely result in a highly discouraging existential crisis of some sort...

Today has been a good day. On a scale of 1-10, probably a 6, overall. That's better than average. I might start graphing these as the course of this journal progresses. A list of good things that have happened:

1. I woke up (+1)
2. I was exactly on time to American Heritage (+2)
3. I had the courage to sit at a table at lunch without first being asked (+5)
4. My packages arrived from ebay. (+3)

Total so far: 11

And the bad.

1. I neglected to brush my teeth, which distracted me through American Heritage (-1)
2. Class was dull. (-1)
3. There is an impending Midterm which I don't feel ready for. (-4)
4. I was one minute, 42 seconds late to Biology. Dr. Houghton can't have approved. (-3)
5. Lunch was terrible. Sloppy joes... and I dislike red meat. You know that anthrax is a lung disease of hoofed mammals, and can be transmitted through meat to human beings? I ate two apples and left very hungry. (-2)

Total so far: -11

Composite: 0

Maybe something else will happen to tip the scale...
