there will always be times
when hope seems to ebb with the tide
but faith will call it back to shore
and trust that we'll see it through
so I just hope that we'll remember:
it doesn't make a difference
if your blood runs red or mine, blue
or even any other color of value.
for when you let hate cut us up,
just know that we'll all bleed too.

Let's call a spade, a spade:
We are not merely at odds
There is no denying that
We are at war.
It doesn't matter
Whose reason is morally right
It has devolved into a match of
Whose double standards
Shout the loudest
And bleed the purest rage:
A comedy of sound and fury

To be human
is to make the same mistakes
as the next man
so pity be the human
who judges his fellow man
by standards above his own

Have we lost sight of mercy
In the heady pursuit of justice
Look how bloodthirsty we still are
Where we confront the darkness of humanity
But fail so terribly
To rise above it
It's a pity when
Justice and technology
Breathe new life into
Witch hunts and pitchforks
Lynchings and burning stakes
And mercy is reduced to a vulgarity

Because some people
just like to see the world burn
all the more
humanity needs to stand undivided
to see that the world never does
