Lessons learned in the past few days:
A) The Iraqis/Arab insurgents are thinking their attacks out a little more.
2) It is getting colder and my fragile little body does not like the 40 degree temp. changes. I'm a shivering little monkey in the mornings. Though, not as bad as Twitch.
III) I should never drink 3 cups of coffee. Especially when I haven't had coffee in 8 months. I could not sleep at all today in between shifts.
and D) I can still be scared. As Sgt. Bob proved earlier when he came to our tower to pass "word." He then pointed out "Ya know someone could just pop up on top of that apartment and smoke you two and we wouldn't really know for a few minutes....Okay have a good night." Great. Thanks, Bob. So we spent the rest of the night in "heightened alert" mode.
The whole
truck bombing/attack went something like this for me.
0555: Wake up and decide to go piss.
0556: Hear large *BOOOOM!* and decide to stay in bed
0557: Pull covers over head.
0558: Multiple *Booms!* and stand by my decision to stay in bed. Even though I really need to go piss.
0605: Hear people stirring and begin listening to gather what I can about what is happening...all from my bed.
0620: Gun fire and another larger *BOOOOOOOOOOM!* heard. Decide to get dressed for post and find out what is going on.
Basically the CNN site can fill you in on the rest. And I got some pictures of what was left of the truck after it was done burning. Fun stuff.
Thats about the gist of it.
