Hi all!
After the positive feedback regarding my question about a clothing swap some time this summer in Vancouver, Canada, I called my local community centre and may have scored us a location. (Cameron Rec Centre, less than .5km away from Lougheed skytrain station in Burnaby.)
For a room that would hold around 30 people and has an adjacent, closed closet space that could serve as a change room, we would pay $12.23 an hour, and could have the room from about 10am until 4pm. (I'm thinking that 3-4 hours would be more than enough, including set-up and take-down, depending on how many people would like to attend.) For me, a Saturday afternoon works best, and the room is available July 14th and July 21st. I have put a hold on both dates that will last a week.
I would be willing to front the $48.92 to book the room for 4 hours, but it would be lovely if I could make some of that money back, especially if we are only trading (and not selling) clothes. (If 10 people come, $5 each would cover it.)
So, here are my questions:
1. How do we all feel about Saturday July 14th/21st in the afternoon, say 12pm to 4pm?
2. How does the location work for people (skytrain adjacent)?
3. Would you be willing to donate $5 to help cover the cost of the room, upon arrival?
4. Would anyone be willing to meet with me earlier, and set up changing stalls/mirrors and the like?
5. Is there anything I haven't thought of yet?
Once I have some concrete information from you all, I will formally book the room and cross-post the information to wherever there may be interested parties, including Facebook.
