Pants Help?

I have a problem purchasing jeans and pants that I was hoping I could get some advice/direction on. I'm short (5'1") and pants always either fit through the hips and won't zip/button, or they button fine but I have yards of fabric around my stomach and thighs. My measurements are 48/49 in hips and 44/45 in waist. I usually buy "low-ride" pants in ( Read more... )

I hate the whole idea that there is some abstract THING that is supposed to define people's bodies, because none are exactly alike. It's taken me a long time to realize that. Like, when I was younger and exclusively shopping at LB, I couldn't understand why the clothes never fit me the way they seemed to fit everyone else; it wasn't until I was much older that I finally understood that the clothes weren't fitting because the designers didn't make them to fit MY body shape, and that there were lots of women out there shaped like me and it was okay to stop hating my body, even though LB and Ave and everyone else told me there was something wrong with me.

Ugh, I understand your frustration. The flat ass thing (which I have, too) makes pants shopping super hard. Sorry I misunderstood your original post about your shape. Maybe the LB right fit RED in petite would fit? They are made for the "slightly curvy" - or so they say. But everything at LB has the most absurdly high rise. I haven't bought any of their pants in a while, but I often try them on, JUST TO BE SURE, and am always disappointed. The thing I hate about Avenue's pants is that they assume that the people wearing them have very large, or hanging, lower tummies - so even though I have a big tummy, it's never enough to fill out all the extra material in the front of their pants. And their rise is also up to your eyebrow.

I'm thinking you might need to go higher end to find the best fit. Have you tried Talbots? Or Anne Klein? Also, Eloquii make a "curvy fit" that might be better suited to your hips without the assumption that you have a giant ass (which I often long for!).
