Tummy Tuck Jeans WTF?: A Review

May 14, 2009 14:36

The other day I decided I needed some jeans as I've outgrown my standards (SJB Bitten jeans, I will miss you). I was at Cargo Largo, the GREATEST odd lots/salvage store in the Kansas City area. After trying on a dozen pair of jeans in different sizes and brands, I ended up with two. A pair of Diva-cut Old Navy jeans for $15 and a strange pair from ( Read more... )

I'm 35 (but still cool, I swear) and I love NYDJ. They don't give me a flat stomach, but they kinda support my little pouch and make me not self conscious about it, and they are very very comfortable and the fabric is soft. Great find!

They look cute on you!

I dunno about "tummy tuck" though. I have had a burning hatred for "shaping" garments since trying on a pair of Spanx while I was working at Addition Elle.

They look like they fit really well.

I am not clear on what the WTF? refers to in your post. Is it the heinous name, the retail price, or something else?

the name is just horrible, but like i said, i understand why that might appeal to a lot of ladies.

Agreed. The name blows. I am over 30, but since my daughter is only 1, I sure as hell hope they're not her jeans.

i see these at nordstrom rack all the time and i hate the butt pockets-- something about them is weird, like they're too small, or the stitching looks poorly done on them. i've never tried any on because of that.

the pockets are a little high up, but i personally find nothing wrong with them. i think that if i had a smaller butt, it would be a problem.

i don't like high pockets-- that's just my thing. i mostly go for more masculine styling, which means bigger, lower pockets. :)

Maybe it's just the photo, but those jeans seem like they maybe should be a size larger -- those deep creases at the top of your thigh makes it look (to me at least) like you're a bit shrink-wrapped in them. Just my opinion. For what it's worth I have a few pairs of NYDJ -- come to think if it, I am wearing a pair right now -- and I usually go up a size from other jeans brands.

And, hello -- $15? I am jealous!

Most of my jeans have that crease because my thighs puff out, but then I go in at the abdomen/pelvis. When I first put them on this morning I was thinking maybe they were a touch too small, but now that I've worn them most of the day, I think that if I found a larger size (keyword: found), they probably would be too loose.

And yeah, when I saw the retail price I was shocked. But then again, my previous jeans have been SJP Bitten, which I paid $10 retail for. So you have an idea of my budget.

Off-topic, but Bitten jeans are the shit. I wear mine all the time. I'm sad I didn't buy more than two pairs!

For serious. I almost exclusively wear the two pairs I have, and lately I've found myself cursing inwardly about only buying two pairs. SIIIIIIGH.
