oh honey! I think these are pretty wonderful. I love the purple one on you!

I think you probably need to pair the bright blue one with some bright accessories (bangles? earrings? I think a necklace would detract from the nice neckline on that shirt).

I like the black shirt, too. Yes, I think you could wear it with an open jacket or an unbuttoned cardi.

Does the bra feel good? It looks good! I love how these tops show off your shape!

(are you open for makeup advice? If yes, let me know!)

Fantastic post!

Thank you!

I probably *should* be open to makeup advice given the random redness all over my face, but I really hate the feel of it. Sometimes I put sunscreen with zinc oxide on my face just to tone that down! If there's something that basically feels like lotion, I'd certainly try that.

Tinted moisturizer! Cover Girl makes a really nice one. So does Physician's Formula. Tinted moisturizer plus a bit of pressed or loose powder is great for evening out your skin tone without feeling like you're wearing a mask.

(Also, OP, I am a pale ruddy redhead too, and the fair-light one is perfect for my skin tone.)

This! A tinted moisterizer would be perfect. They come in both drug store and department store brands. That, a bit of gloss (or tinted chapstick) and mascara will completely wake up your look.

As for the tops, I purposely look for tops with wide straps because I prefer a bra with wide straps. I also like the bright blue top. I would pair it with either a coordinating dark blue top or a red skirt for contrast.

Also, those powder mineral makeup kits work well to tone down redness. I use it and don't even notice I'm wearing makeup 90% of the time.

Also, Lush has some lovely soaps that help tone down facial redness. :)

You can also cheat and make your own tinted moisturizer by adding some foundation to your favorite lotion for pigment. :)

Mineral makeup! Why didn't I think of that one, too? There's a few inexpensive drug store brands that are doing the mineral thing now. I bought some by Jane that was less than $5 and works pretty nicely, especially over the tinted moisturizer.

You might try some samples of mineral makeup. Everyday Minerals will send you free samples for the cost of postage, I believe. It's a powder, so it doesn't feel icky on your skin.

Mineral makeup is my other god. I use Urban Decay's mineral foundation, but Everyday Minerals also works really well and is quite inexpensive compared to Bare Minerals/Urban Decay/etc.

The samples are a great way to try the whole concept if you're not sure you'll like it; if you hate it you're only out two dollars or so.

3rd(?)for mineral make-up! It has been my saving grace. I have incredibly oily skin (an big giant pores to boot) and MM is the only stuff I can get to stay on my face for more then an hour. It doesn't feel like your wearing anything. There are a ton of different brands out there, I actually use some stuff from the drug store (Bare Naturals or something), worked fantastically.

samples are great if you don't know what shade (light/med/dark or cool/warm/natural) you are.

Tinted moisturizers! I have (permanent, wah) sun damage around my nose, and I'm a huge fan of the Covergirl tinted moisturizer. Sometimes I use concealer around my nose too (I use a cheapy NYC stick concealer because I'm poor and it works). And to me, I often feel that lotions are heavier than the tinted moisturizer. AAAAND if you have sensitive skin you should be good. I'm allergic to almost everything that goes on the skin, and have never ever had a problem with my CG Smoothers tinted moisturizer stuff.

Also, yay for bras! Underwires can suck sometimes, but if it's well made it shouldn't cause problems, and in my experience underwires are required for support and shape once you're bigger than like, a B or something. I've never tried on a bra without an underwire that doesn't make my boobs look weird. So. YAY FOR BRAS!
