Tomorrow T, myself, our daughter and grandkids are driving together to Green Bay to see P and Bee, T's sister and Mom for the Fourth. We have made the usual prep for road trips with one addition: a car seat for CB our granddaughter who fancies herself to be the 2+ year old diva! Found one that didn't break the bank and at the same time rated just as high as a $300 model per Consumer Reports. It cost us just $48 with tax at Target. Damn I LOVE the internet!
I've got to get through today's work day, stop for smokes, and take care of several mundane chores at home. I also have to set up this car seat. While I am not mechanically inclined I can follow directions. However, it has been my experience that only a mother can quickly, effectively and safely operate anything designed for the use of infants, toddlers and children. I have watched men who are doctors, construction workers, office workers, and even an engineer have difficulty with baby equipment. They would go through this monumental struggle trying to open up a stroller, and the mother would come up, and with a flick of the wrist, the stroller would magically come open, snap together and be ready to roll. I'm not sure, but I think once I even saw one open up, complete with a sippy cup full of milk and snacks ready to go.
I don't know what kind of arcane magic it takes to set this car seat up, but I am hoping that my own mojo will prove to be enough.
