Dad had given me an hour. After that, he was going to come back and kill me. I wasn't sure why he didn't just kill me then -- it was kind of like one of those bad movies where the villain talks on and on and on about how he's going to kill the hero, giving the hero enough time to wiggle his hands out of the ropes and smack the villain down.
