So we went up north to my grandparents' house for the weekend. SOOOO slow...both the drive and the weekend. We'd been there for like an hour and everyone was just sitting around talking, so I got bored. So my brother and I played catch for a while. Then we set up some targets in the corn fields and took my dad's pellet gun and shot for a while. Then we got a hold of my grandpa's bbgun. Then I was bored again. So I dragged my mom in to Yankton, South Dakota (just across the Nebraska border of where we were staying), and we looked around. Nothing to see. Seriously...we're talking worse than Barstow. We made it back in time to watch the Texas vs. Baylor game (they had ESPN thank god), so the night wasn't a total waste. Except all my relatives are Huskers fans and the OSU Beavers lost the first round :( But I did get to talk to a bunch of people. Jay called me from South Korea--it was 3am his time!!! And they were even about to go see a movie! I guess he was trying to stay up all night so he could sleep on the flight. Then Ames called, and then I talked to Heidi! So the evening flew by quickly. My bro and I watched "50 First Dates," which is one of the cutest movies ever!!! And Ken even watched it again today (we're gonna make him the greatest guy EVER!) Such a sweet movie...but hard to swallow with reality :) Anyways, we're back home finally, but it was nice to get away for the weekend. Looking to get up to Seattle this week (fingers crossed), but I am waiting for confirmation for a gig before I know for sure. I'm jealous Rachel gets to see Krissy...I'm close by too! Ha ha, I know the feeling of getting excited to have visitors all the way out here in Podunk! Ebay selling is going well, but going to the Post Office twice a week sucks. And my kickboxing class Saturday am kicked MY butt so bad it hurts to walk now :~( Anyways, just a little update. Breathing deeper now, just enjoying life, because I know I have plenty of time to worry in the future. Corn de-tassling in three weeks, so I am going to enjoy relaxing and running errands and hanging with the bro while I can! Not a whole lot new in the mid-West...just looking forward to adventures in the US and Europe! Ooooooh AND I got a cool volunteer job at LANDSTUHL Army Medical Center (the clearing-house for soldiers injured abroad) working as a kind of candy striper and helping volunteers from Soldier's Angels. I'm gonna be talking to soldiers and coordinating package and correspondence deliveries, and hopefully giving tours to families waiting for soldiers to be released! I am SO stoked. And Landstuhl is like 25 minutes away! There's my weekends. But I'm definitely going to Cairo & Alexandria, Istanbul, Cyprus, Vilnius & Moskow, and other awesome places in my *spare* time as well! Now all I have to do is hold off making a decision about grad school and continue living in the MOMENT. So important, I've finally realized. The MOMENT is everything you've got!
